WHATS ON AT BOW HOUSE EQUESTRIAN..
EQUINE FLU UPDATE.
Bow House Equestrian Update.
Subject to there being no further Equine Flu Outbreaks near here. After taking veterinary advice, which is ongoing ( so things may change )
We are planning to re open next Sunday 24th.
All horses coming on to Bow House Equestrian must be fully vaccinated and must have had one injection within the last 6 months. And no horse can be here for 7 days after a vaccination.
The 6 month vaccination will have boosted your horses immunity to the flu virus.
The reason for horses not to mix with other horses for 7 days after vaccination, is that the vaccine gives them a small dose of flu which boosts their immune system so fights the virus, but during this time they can shed small amounts of the virus.
We will be doing passport checks on the lorry park and any horse not meeting the above requirements will be sent straight home. Please if you feel your horse is not well stay at home.
An Interesting Fact.
If 85% of the UK horse population were vaccinated the Equine Flu would have very little effect on the horses in the UK as they would be able to fight it off before it took effect.
